Hi, I’m Mya, the person behind Your Local Pet Care. I live locally at Sphere Southport and help local pet owners with dog walks and care visits when they can’t be home. I’ve grown up around dogs, volunteered with AWL (Animal Welfare League) Brisbane, and started working with animals back in high school at a pet resort, so caring for pets has always been a big part of my life.

I treat every pet as if they were my own, calm, patient, and attentive to the routine you’ve set. Whether it’s a walk or a visit, the goal is simple: your pet feels comfortable and looked after while you’re out.

Choosing care for your pet is a big decision. Here are the questions people ask most often, with clear answers so you know what to expect before you enquire.

Yes, a meet-and-greet is the best way to make sure it’s a good fit. It’s a quick hello to meet your pet, go through the routine, confirm access, and talk through anything important before care starts.

A Care Visit (15 mins) is a shorter check-in for fresh water, a wellbeing check, and comfort time (plus a toilet break if needed). A Feeding & Care Visit (30 mins) gives more time for feeding, settling, and extra attention.

Bookings start with the enquiry form. Once your enquiry is received, you’ll be contacted to confirm availability and to organise a meet-and-greet (recommended for first-time bookings). After the booking is confirmed, you can pay online via the website using the secure payment link.

If you need to change or cancel a booking, please message me as soon as you can, and I'll do my best to accommodate. Cancellations with less than 12 hours’ notice are charged 50%, and cancellations with less than 2 hours’ notice are charged in full.

If your pet has special needs, include that in your enquiry so it can be discussed at the meet & greet. If medication is straightforward and you provide clear written instructions, it may be possible, but it’s confirmed on a case-by-case basis.

No, overnight stays aren’t offered. Walks are daytime, and care visits are daytime and evening only.
